We initially intended Adam’s birthday hike on North Fork Mountain (West Virginia) to be the subject of a standard blog post. However, once we finished the hike, reviewed a couple maps and discussed the post, we decided that we’re going to hike it again in the next month or so with a different (and better!) route in mind. To tide everyone over for the time being, please enjoy a couple photos of the views along the hike. Trust us… these are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to scenery!

Nice photos – I am excited to see more! I recently purchased a used Monongahela NF Trails book at our local library book sale and have been anxious to get out that way once work calms down and the weather moderates. Much recent hiking time has been spent with the PATC’s Southern Shenandoah group cleaning up fallen trees in Ramsey’s Draft. Your posting reminds me that it is time to see some new trails.

I’m so glad I found your blog! We went to Shenandoah for my bday last month based on a lot of your reviews, and although we were fogged in most of the weekend, we still managed to hike most of what we planned. North Fork is one of my all time favorite hikes in WV! In fact, my husband and I are heading there this weekend to hike a different section of this mountain. It has some of the best views we’ve found here in WV.
